BOR Mint Tea
10'7" by 5'9"

0.00

There is a careful balance here between a symmetric almost formal motif, natural materials, and the whimsy of scattered symbols. With large lozenges down the center and protective fish bones down the edges, it has some of the typical symbolic Berber language. Undyed wool displays great variation in the cream field, giving a neutral palette depth and an organic feel. The entire piece is tightly-knotted medium pile of soft hand-spun wool. Unique color touches include the very visible mint green and the most subtle light peach, all that remains of the once brilliant orange. It is the more random symbols, from a welcoming tea pot to a female figure and carding tool, that add a true, proud maker’s mark. With striped flatweave on both ends and dark brown fringe at one.
