A rare double-sided rug worn to perfection. Alternating rows of Berber knots would have originally made a rug of hand-spun full indigo pile on one side and full red pile on the other. Decades of use and wear have brought the two together in a particularly beautiful way. The result is a study in texture. One face is cloudy steel blue with the red of the flip side showing through in broken lines. Black lines enter and break as well, signs of old repair. The red side is more worn, soft and rustic. With black selvedges as a frame and subtle purple stitching on one end, it is a work of art.  A collector’s piece.
