Ourika Third Eye

Colorful and arty with intent and a touch of play. Though there are some boucherouite elements, it is mostly wool pile and has softness and heft to show for it. The faded greys provide contrast to the color pops with vivid purple, flame red, tangerine, pink, and turquoise most visible. Columns give order and dark wool down the middle anchors the motif. Chains of nested diamonds, loose and organic, run down the columns, likely protective eye symbols. Use of bright colors, thought to deflect the evil eye, suggest magic properties as well. But the rug stands on its own for aesthetics alone, with lovely play of light and dark and a wonderful sense of color and rhythm. Thick, strong weave in medium pile on rag weft and cotton warp. With selvedges reinforced in goat hair.
