Bold and soft, thick and shimmering. This dense piece shows natural wool at its most beautiful. With use and time it has worn to a glamorous sheen, deep cream that hints at greens in the right light. The grid is triple lined and in its looseness looks almost like rope drawn by a steady hand. Some squares hold small blocks, likely record keeping but of what remains a mystery. Like the best Berber art it feels modern and traditional at once, utilitarian beauty.
