Narrated with a painterly touch. The symmetry has wandered but the composition echoes urban rugs with their central medallions. This version, however, is clearly rural, loose and free with a tent as the focal point. Diamonds and chains float down either side. The palette, too, is freed, going bold with commercial wool yarns in primary colors and a heavy use of black. The purple wool field has faded which only emphasizes the brighter colors. Tomato red weft comes through to the selvedges for a strong frame. It was once much longer but this fragment more than holds its own, an artistic depiction of nomadic life.
