Intricate and intimate. Expertly woven with personal symbols, this is likely a wedding rug. It bears a man’s name (Mohammed), human figures, camels, and symbols of fertility and prosperity. The weaver uses a complex pattern of male zigzags to great effect in a symmetrical yet free composition. The palette is simple but lush with a light caramel field and motif of chocolate, soft red, and a touch of coral. In a very dense weave of Berber knots.
