Complex chevron bands and strong borders point to a very traditional rug. Seen clearly on the back, the common, personal symbols are clear: female chevrons, eight-pointed stars, diamonds, a couple rendered in a double X. But material renders it something else. Wispy magenta wool and the skilled use of different types of knots make for a flowing rug. And contrast makes it shine. In cream and khaki, a motif nestled into bright color comes through with a sense of fun despite being a serious, old weaving. With a dark braided fringe on one end and small repairs visible on the back that show the useful life of a beautiful piece.
