Texture and color. Mixed technique combines deep magenta flatweave with thick pile colorful crosses that look floral. The cross is usually a symbol of 5 (including the center), or hamza, which is in turn a protective symbol. It is impossible to know in this case if it is primarily symbolic or decorative but it is no doubt beautiful. The typical color combo of purple, orange, green, and pink is balanced by black and cream. One vibrant row of yellow adds surprise. With a small but uniform border that frames it all.
