Rehamna Horse and Rider 12'1" by 5'
Colorful, tribal, bold yet refined. It has a wonderfully free asymmetrical motif unified by a sophisticated, harmonious color palette that only time can give. Cascading lozenges and symbols of life’s essentials: a woman, a horse, and a teapot. The ground is striking and complex, with color shifts in the red, one half a coral pink and the other a deep berry, but even these change with changing light. The motif is tangerine, cream, chocolate brown, and the lightest grey that was once vibrant purple and retains a hint of its past. The character comes through in details, from the patina and sheen of good wool to the modified sawtooth selvedges that run deep into the piece and leave the sides almost striped. Dark brown detail and fringe on both ends. Some small signs of wear, but overall it has aged incredibly well, to a rich medium pile. Dated 1984.
