A joyful showoff. Traditional diamonds, that enduring female symbol, sparkle here. Strung in rows that wobble and dip, they alternate between magenta and turquoise, bright pink, teal, or steel blue. It’s a bold palette tempered by the rhythm and harmony of pattern, if a loosely organic one. Greys soften it as well, on the selvedges and the free-hand lines that define each lozenge. These are not natural dyes, showing that even in older pieces, weavers of the region used whatever they found in local markets and leaned toward bright color. With a short braided fringe at one end.
