Talsint First Addition 13'8" by 5'8"
Mixed technique in free-hand technicolor. This striking example of an old and unique tent divider shows Talsint boldness and beauty at its best. Cream flat weave ground acts as canvas for a riot of doodles in pile of unexpected colors. Vibrating lozenges and rows of crosses (birds’ feet), fill the field, dense and rich, organized in horizontal bands so that there is some order to the chaos. They are packed in densely, so dense as to look like a pattern. But the loose sketch keeps its quirks, drawn by a skilled hand. Colors veer from the saffron orange and green that dominate to rust and red and surprise with everything including soft baby blue, lilac, cobalt, and hot pink. With soft grey rustic sawtooth edges typical of the region in a piece that is anything but typical. There are some small spots of dye transfer but it is in otherwise excellent condition.
