Wool. Curly, swirling, resilient, shimmering, hand-spun wool from a region renowned for it. Once bright turquoise, it has faded to the softest mint green. There is still some variation in hue, but the overall effect is of plush monochromatic texture. Long pile has been knotted to lie relatively flat so there is a real grain and movement to it. One bright orange line outlines and bisects, for contrast and emphasis. The piece is a wonderful study in minimalism, a celebration of material and restraint.
