Two rugs in one. The front is a stunning colorwash in abrashed watermelon pile. But the back shows an intricate rug dominated by a complex chevron motif. The dark ground reveals itself in a dramatic charcoal fringe that only highlights the sunset colors in the rug. From the front the motif is abstract, the indigo, tangerine and sunny yellow a subtle shadow beneath a blanket of abrashed watermelon shag. The Berber knots and tight weave of a heavy mountain rug belied by its lacey appearance.
