The loose charm of arty Boujads. The heft of the piece comes from its rag weft which not only makes for a sturdy, utilitarian rug, but shows itself in lines of subtle color where the salmon wool knots have worn. But the overall color story remains deep salmon and black. A simple motif, an elongated lozenge chain seemingly hand-drawn, puts the focus on color and line. It would be a simple color story as well were it not for a shift where black turns to high pile navy. Texture pops up and black softens just a bit to the harmony of pink and blue.  This shift is echoed in dark edges that act as a frame. Contrast to be sure, but it works.
