Traditional elements lean wildly modern. It starts with the best Middle Atlas hand-spun wool, a slight curl left. It adds indigo and henna, two of the most important dyes for Berber ritual and design. That they are complimentary blue and orange gives a high contrast rug harmony. The cross repeats until it becomes not symbol but pattern, filling the composition up to the small henna border. The orange remains strongest in the middle and some hue variation holds throughout, a testament to age.  Tight knots on dark ground have worn supple but it is a beautifully substantial, elegant high pile rug. The overall effect is of undulating, deep tones, a soft play on dark and light.
