BOR Rites of Man 12'8" by 5'10"
A visually striking and elegant piece with all the rustic warmth of a classic sleeping rug. This is a large, full rug, in knots of surprisingly thin-spun deep cream wool for a luxurious pile that is long enough to have a grain and appear different when the light source moves. In a field of flowing cream wool, the dark walnut motif adds drama and a twist. In lieu of more typical lozenges, the dominant symbols are two large, long “fishbones” running the length of the rug, male symbols most often seen on the edges of a rug. Rendered unusually large and central here, they work incredibly well with the long shag to produce a zebra print effect. With a small lozenge chain border on three sides and a simple wool fringe on the other. It is bold and soft at once, a singular rug in beautiful condition.
