Texture, geometry, palette. Originally red, it has faded over time, leaving complex shades of pink. Some fire engine red remains, but only enough to provide contrast and a hint of what once was. The rag weft is predominantly rose which only strengthens the pink as the rug wears but lets some blue peek through too. Green, grey, and cream finish the palette and a strong black shows at either end. The loose composition is organized in large bands. It is wonderfully abstract, appearing both geometric and pictorial. Imperfections abound and give the piece its art and freedom. Edges waver and pile varies.
