A simple graphic design gently rendered and beautifully worn. It is an old piece with good wool and wonderful, uneven wear. The non-uniform grid of olive and brown knots sits on cream ground. Over time, the dark knots have worn more than the cream pile so that the motif shows in subtle relief, adding real dimension. Hidden in the simple design are a few stray knots in faded red and bright purple. Though old and obviously used, it has held up well, and even improved, thanks to skilled weaving including reinforced selvedges in dark brown. Unusual for Berber rugs, there is fringe on both ends, showing some wear and a subtle purple detail woven in. Several repairs, the signs of a rug used and cared for, are visible on the back but do not detract.
