Elegant and free with the informal charm of older abstract Boujads. It is floral in both texture and palette. Loosely woven such that pile lies flat but remains long as it wears, resulting in a petal-like quality. The technique creates a grain that gives the piece a much different look from one side to the other. From one end, the pinks and spring greens are saturated. From the other, more pink ground is visible and the overall feel is lighter. The pinks come from faded reds and show great variation while the greens were once brown and, as the red washed out, they came through in everything from bright green to olive. That rich, light playfulness repeats in the motif where several vertical bands divide it but do not rein it in. It stays wonderfully loose and free-form. The mixed fiber threads in the warp include metallic which flashes in the fringe and a few bright knots showing through on the face. An older piece, it has some wear and a beautiful patina that only adds to its appeal.
